About
Favourite subjects
Essentially I love shooting anything and everything that looks interesting, but my main subjects are:
- Travel photos – landmarks and famous places
- Landscape and scenery
- Beaches
- Nature
- Night scene
- Macro
Camera
- Olympus E-410 digital SLR
The E-410 is a nice light-weight camera that’s easy to take along on most trips. It goes nicely with a quality high-grade lens like the Olympus 12-60 mm which has a very useful zoom range.
Another useful feature of this camera is Live View, which allows you to see what you are shooting on the LCD rather than only through the eyepiece. While using Live View you can manually focus on the chosen point on an object with up to 10x zoom, which allows for a more precise focus. This is ideal for non-moving objects such as architecture and still macro, with the help of a tripod. For night scene photos manual focus is particularly important because autofocus doesn’t work well in low light and manually focusing through a small eyepiece isn’t always easy.
Lenses
- Olympus Zuiko ED 12-60 mm F2.8-4.0 SWD
This is my favourite lens and stays on my camera most of the time. It’s zoom range is ideal in a wide variety of situations, being nice and wide with good zoom (equivalent to 24-120 mm on a 35 mm camera).
- Olympus Zuiko ED 14-42 mm F3.5-5.6
- Olympus Zuiko ED 40-150 mm F4.0-5.6
- Olympus Zuiko ED 35 mm F3.5 Macro
Other equipment
- Olympus FL-36 Flash
